Welcome to our Story

We are an owner-run retreat nestled in a secluded valley of exceptional heritage and natural significance, our boutique lodge is a sanctuary for those seeking to reconnect with the world in its purest form.

Situated where the Mankulumani River meets the Mpofana-Sterkspruit River, it is an intersection of spectacular natural beauty, rich historical and cultural traditions, and where fantasy begins. Here the San hunted, made rituals, took refuge, and shared their ancient stories and myths (‘kukummi’).

We endeavor to create a space where our guests can step into a realm where the whispers of the past mingle with the wonders of the present, offering an experience that is both deeply rooted in the cultural tapestry of the San and the evocative, otherworldly charm found in the pages of fantasy. Here, in this hidden valley, we invite you to rest, explore, and make a vist to this enchanting place a part of your story.

The Sun and the Moon, too, first became ... An old man with light in his armpit lay before his shelter... A woman of the Early Race told her children to throw this old man into the sky... He stood and from then on the sun was bright and round. Hunting the springbok, the ostrich and the kudu became possible and so did travelling, visiting and the exchange of kukummi - history, myths, news, anything told.
